The telecommunications giant has confirmed that it will scrap the sites amid falling usage.
A total of 84 BT booths were marked for removal in August 2016, sparking furore and concern in many Perthshire villages where they are seen as a lifeline in the absence of mobile phone coverage.
But, as revealed in February by the PA, Perth and Kinross Council moved to block the shutdown of 11 booths, with a further 17 being considered for retention through community-led schemes.
Sites from Greenloaning to Glenlyon are being retained, although selected booths in Crieff, Perth and other communities remain on course for removal between now and 2020. Scotland-wide, BT had identified around 1500 sites with low customer numbers, but confirmed to BBC Scotland that 947 booths will be making their last calls over the coming months and years.
BT said it was also in discussions with a number of local communities about the possibility of“adopting”a further 111 kiosks.
