Kinross Hockey Club formally opened its new pitch this week.

After a two-year fundraising and development project, a new modern astroturf surface has been laid at The Muirs, the home to hockey at Kinross for over 40 years.

The club would like to thank Perth and Kinross Council, The Arthur and Margaret Thompson Trust, The Scottish Hockey Union together with the local businesses, clubs and sponsors who have helped bring this project to fruition.

Gail Nelson, Kinross Hockey Club president, said: “We are truly grateful to everyone who has helped and supported us in bringing this project to fruition.

“The process has been long and arduous, but the benefits that our members and the community users can now reap are enormous. Kinross Astro is a superb facility and our members will use and maintain it with pride.”

Kinross Hockey Club runs two ladies’ teams and two men’s teams, with a thriving junior section “The Kobras” competing in the Midland District Tournaments.

For those not wishing to compete on a regular basis, “The Korinthians” - a social hockey section - is available.

Full details about the club can be found on its website www.kinrosshockey.org
