Abandoned Tia is now DJ in the (dog) house

- Melanie Bonn

Tia, a rescue dog from PADS adopted by Perthbased photographer James Russell When former pro-photographer James Russell saw rescue dog Tia on a website, he thought she looked adorable.

He went to the Perthshire Abandoned Dogs Society (PADS) kennels at Forteviot with his girlfriend and son and admitted:“We fell in love with Tia, she was so soft and friendly.”

The family adopted the sparky, seven-yearold bitch and soon James – from Perth – had her posing for pictures.

Previously a professional photographer with Venture, James (36) said he mainly does pictures as a hobby now.

“Staffies get a very bad press, which is on the whole not deserved as they are fantastic with kids and families, adore cuddles and can be trained fairly easily. They can display some dog to dog aggression, but with good socialisation, this can be altered.”

He said staff at PADS were friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.

“They let you take the dogs for a walk first and get to know them and give you time to spend with them. And you have 28 days to see if the dog gets along with you and your family.”

It wasn’t all plain sailing with street-wise Tia.

James continued:“At the weekend she ran up to a family on Glasgow Green who were having a BBQ and stole a chicken skewer!”

James has an Instagram page for Tia and their new PADS dog Denzil, an English bulldog.
