Kinrossto getnew defibrillators

- Rachel Clark

Kinross looks set to get several defibrillators installed as the town prepares to install its first one in Hunters.

Kinross Community Council announced last week it now has enough money to buy a second defibrillator for the town.

The news comes as members of the community council were trained on how to use defibrillators by first responders at the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Kinross-shire councillor Dave Cuthbert said: “There will be several, quite a few in different locations.

“Everyone here thinks it is a great idea, so we want to get them in as many places as possible.

“The community council are still waiting for the outcome of ground applications, and are still trying to raise money for the other defibrillators.”

The life saving devices in Kinross will be left unlocked on the advice of doctors to make them fully available to the public. They will also be fitted with trackers and CCTV.

The first training session will be run on Wednesday, May 10, where staff from Hunters, Complete Look and Mandy’s at Millbridge Hall will learn how to use the defibrillatory.

Further training sessions for other businesses on the High Street will be set up for mid-May.

The first defibrillator is set to be installed by mid-May.
