-

Three outstanding Scottish acts Treacherous Orchestra, Adam Holmes and the Embers plus Rachel Sermanni - bring a varied evening with a Celtic vibe to Perth Concert Hall on May 24.

From foot stomping reels and party folk-rock to gentle ballads and slow airs, this is the PFA concert for a new generation of native music lovers.

You get blown away by 12-man Scottish supergroup,Treacherous Orchestra which includes Perthshire piper Ross Ainslie.

The young and hugely talented Rachel Sermanni brings her rich, thoughtful lyrics and old folk songs get a haunting new mood with rising star Adam Holmes.

Ross spoke to the PA about how Treacherous Orchestra came about: “We met in Glasgow when all of us were at that 18/19/20 age, we came together through folk sessions held Rachel Sermanni will bring some Celtic flair to the festival at the Ben Nevis bar on Wednesday nights.

“At that time not so many young people were about playing folk. At Celtic Connections we would do the last night, making up a scratch band for the festival club at the Central Hotel.

Then in 2007 we got to do a proper slot, so we had to come up with a name. We sold out at the ABC.”

Ross explained Treacherous Orchestra was working on a new album, but purposefully taking things easier this year after a“stupid busy”time of it in 2016.

He and Ali Hutton are also recording new work, having just won Best Duo at the 2017 Radio 2 Folk Awards held at the Albert Hall.

All tickets for the three-act concert at 7.30pm on May 24 cost £25, with an additional £1.50 booking fee. School children get in for £10.
