- Paul Cargill

A Perthshire village hall committee has welcomed a cash injection which will see the beloved building preserved for future generations.

Forgandenny Village Hall is set to benefit from an extensive programme of repairs following the announcement that Innogy Renewables UK Limited’s Lochelbank Community Fund is prepared to cover most of the costs.

The windfarm fund’s overseers have agreed to contribute £8973 towards the cost of repointing the hall’s stonework, replacing fascias, repairing and extending its gutters and rendering the former church’s chimney safe.

Chair of the Forgandenny Village Hall committee, Paul Vallot, extended his gratitude to local traders as well as staff at Strathallan School who helped the group pull

Two other facilities in Bridge of Earn will also see some important upgrades in the near future after similarly being awarded cash grants from the same fund.

Those behind it have agreed to contribute £2360 towards the cost of replacing the Bridge of Earn Institute’s roof, while Bridge of Earn Tennis Club has been granted £3364 to install concrete flooring in the changing rooms of the clubhouse.

Treasurer Alec Campbell commented: “Bridge of Earn Tennis Club, Bridge of Earn Football Club and other users of the clubhouse are delighted with the grant offer from Lochelbank Community Fund for essential repairs.

“The village club is financed mainly by members’ subscriptions, and major outlays like this would be difficult without assistance such as this generous grant from the fund.

“Completing the repairs will ensure we can continue to provide community sports facilities in Bridge of Earn including tennis coaching for youngsters and representation in local leagues.”
