Wishbone Ash legend Martin at Green Hotel

-

Prog rock legend Martin Turner is heading to Kinross this weekend.

The Wishbone Ash founder will be playing highlights from his back catalogue at the Green Hotel from 8pm on Friday.

As the West Country outfit’s lead vocalist and creative force, Turner was central to their massive success in the 1970s, which included the landmark albums Pilgrimage, Argus and There’s the Rub.

More than four decades on, the bass player continues to perform the band’s bestloved works with a line-up that features guitarists Danny Willson and Misha Nikolic, and drummer Tim Brown.

In recent years he has delighted audiences worldwide with performances of classic Wishbone Ash material.

Known for his keen sense of melody, Turner (69) said he still gets a buzz out of playing live.

“I have had a wonderful time over the past few years re-discovering the wider Wishbone Ash catalogue and taking this to the people,” he declared.

“When I go to see an artist live, I want to hear the songs as I remember them from the records and I believe that’s true of the Wishbone Ash audience too.”

In 2015 he released the award-winning Written in the Stars album, which was followed by a busy period of touring that saw him record his latest set, The Beauty of Chaos – Live at the Citadel.

Turner’s current tour features classic Wishbone Ash album tracks and stage favourites alongside recent cuts.
