Skills opportunity at Fair City festival
Perth’s Adventure Circus has announced it is holding a taster session as well as putting on a show performance for the LGBTI community in the Fair City next month.
Part of the LEAP Sports Scotland Festival Fortnight - a celebration to encourage LGBTI participation in sport - the taster session is being held at the circus school’s North Muirton studio on Sunday, June 11 at 2pm.
The session is being billed as a chance to bring LGBTI people together to try an exciting circus skills class, which will including aerial acrobatics and floor based circus skills, in a safe and friendly environment.
Adventure Circus director and instructor Stephen Armour explained: “Participants will be introduced to some fun, warm-up exercises, followed by some light stretching to get everyone loose and limber!
“We will then venture on to trapeze and aerial skills, where our team of instructors will assist you in hanging upside down, posing, and if you fancy the challenge, testing your strength!
“We will also let you play with traditional circus equipment, such as hula hoops, spinning plates, juggling balls and poi!”
Adventure Circus director and instructor Gemma Simpson added: “Circus is a fantastic, fun and freeing way to exercise and is even more fun
Aerial acrobatics will be on offer at the taster session when you have a friend with you to support you and to take photos of your best moments!”
After the session, the Adventure Circus professional performance team and students will host an ‘80s-themed show and will welcome a special guest performer, Tyrone Herlihy.
Stephen explained: “Tyrone is a London based performer who has been touring the world with various aerial troupes. As well as performing, Tyrone will also be teaching double trapeze skills to participants during the workshop session.”
Members of the LGBTI community are being encouraged to sign up to take part in the session, which is open to all sexual orientations from age 14+.
