Errol Church A big brekkie event will be held in the village hall on Saturday, May 13, from 9am to 11am. Admission is £5, and all monies will be donated to Christian Aid. A communion service on Sunday, May 14, at 11am will be followed with a retiring offering for the Youth Fund. The Revive cafe will be held in the Ochil Room on Wednesday, May 17, from 1pm to 2.30pm and choir practice will be held in the Sidlaw Room at 7pm. Guildtown

Scone and St Martin’s Church Morning worship on Sunday of this week will be led by Ian and Alison Scott in Guildtown village hall at 11am. All members of the congregati­on and any visitors will be made welcome, and teas and coffees will be served at the close of the service.

Boys’ Brigade presentati­on The Brigade’s annual display and presentati­on of awards will be held at the Church Centre, Kinross this Friday, at 7pm. Parents and friends welcome. Whinnybank cat sanctuary Sue made a return trip to a farm near Stirling this week to continue a feral job which has been ongoing for the past two years. She could not delay her visit due to one of the cats being pregnant. She has already secured a home for the three 10 month old feral cats, once they have been neutered. The elderly grey and white cat, who wandered into their Newburgh shop has now been reunited with her owners. Thanks go to Brian and Molly for their kind donation of plants and money, to Newburgh Primary School for their donation of bric-a-brac, and to Letham Flower Show committee for their donation of books and brica-brac. Pigeon Club Newburgh and District Racing Pigeon Club held its second old bird race from Alnwick in Northumber­land. The flying distance was 90 miles and the race was sponsored by T & N Gilmartin Contractor­s of Cupar. The club winners were J Coltart, G Williams and R Nisbet.

Pitlochry

Pitlochry Angling Club There are plenty of fish showing at the moment, but unfortunat­ely, due to the weather conditions, they are proving difficult for members of the club to catch. Some are, however, falling to the fly as members Gordon Nichol and Marty Wilson have proved. Marty’s recent fish came in at 21 lbs. The dam counter now shows 750 fish through and the number has been increasing by about 50 fish every day. The club have sent out a reminder about the conference which will take place in the Atholl Palace Hotel, Pitlochry tomorrow. The event starts at 10am, and admission is free.
