Perth City South councillor Willie Wilson hits the streets with Craigie residents A Perth councillor has taken action to combat people failing to pick up dog mess.

Perth City South Lib Dem elected member Willie Wilson revealed residents in Craigie’s Wilson Street have been continually raising the problem with him and that he recently met a group of locals to discuss the situation.

“We all agreed that dog fouling was totally unacceptable and extra effort has to be made to try and eradicate this grossly anti-social behaviour,” he told the PA.

“Additional warning signs regarding dog fouling have already been located and will continue to be located in the area; this particularly applies to the pathway behind Wilson Street, which also serves streets such as Clyde Place, Park Place and Abbot Crescent.

“We will also ensure that collection bags are made available in local shops in Darnhall and Craigie.”

Councillor Wilson added that early discussion has already taken place with the area’s dog warden service to increase patrols in the area and also offer advice and support to dog owners.

He added: “Many local dog owners and walkers have approached me on this problem; they resent strongly the bad practice of a few people which spoils the area for the vast majority of residents.

“Local children have also expressed their dismay at the lack of care and consideration that some dog owners have with regard to the community in general and this area in particular.

“Residents have said to me they cannot understand why some folk have a local lack of pride in their own street or their own area by allowing their dogs to foul freely on the pathways and pavements.

“This is just totally unacceptable and we will continue to combine forces to do our best to tackle this.”
