Zander ready for return to Europa action
St Johnstone goalkeeper Zander Clark is hoping the club’s European experience will shine through this summer.
The Perth side booked their place in the Europa League on Saturday and will enter the competition at the first qualifying round stage at the end of June.
Clark has been involved in previous ventures to the continent with Saints and he cannot wait to get going again.
“It’s another great achievement for the club,” he said.“It’s probably one of the best achievements we’ve had league-wise to split Rangers and Hearts.
“At the start of the season nobody would have had us up there challenging.
“European trips are always good and it’s great for the fans as well. It gets them a few days away in the sunshine.
“We’ll take whoever we get and every game will probably be a difficult one. It’s something we can look forward to over the break.
“We’ve been in the competition a lot now and know what you need to do to win games away from home.
“It’s never easy going abroad to play in a European tie but we’ll have more experience and hopefully that can show.
“Every home game we’ve had in Europe it’s almost been a sell-out so hopefully that will be the same.
“Even on Saturday the crowd gave us a lot of backing, which I’m sure drove the players on.”
