A Porsche Centre similar to this one could be built at Broxden High-performance sports cars are set to become a common site around Perth’s Broxden district.

And they could be a money spinner for the Fair City and Scotland’s economic fortunes.

Exciting proposals for the iconic car maker Porsche to have an outlet and workshop claims the proposals have the potential to boost the economy by more than £22 million over the next decade.

Car sales group Peter Vardy is behind the scheme for the German brand which would create nearly 30 jobs once operational- supporting up to 11 more - and about 144 jobs during construction.

The firm is eyeing a site at Tweed Place, Broxden - near to the dental centre - and has lodged a detailed planning application.

If approved the Porsche Centre - one of just a handful in Scotland -would form another break from the city’s motor mile.

But it would fit with the initial efforts to bring high quality jobs to Broxden, which has so far supported a mix of office and skilled workers which is set to be complemented by a proposed restaurant.

Documents show that it expects a quarter of staff to be in higher value occupations.

The plans show spaces for around 25 used cars and a showroom for new vehicles would be formed.

They also state that during construction the proposed development could generate an additional £4.3million of gross value added to the Scottish economy, about £1m of which would directly feed into Perth and Kinross.

Porsche was founded in Germany in 1931 and is responsible for more than 24,000 jobs and generated profits in excess of £2bn in 2015.

Cars such as the 911 - which has taken a number of forms over the years - are iconic with petrolheads, with the Boxter, Cayenne and even tractors being made by the firm.

Porsche is also the most successful motor sports brand and is the world’s largest race manufacturer.
