A number of Perthshire businesses were successful at the Scotland Food and Drink Awards.

The ceremony saw the best in the country take home accolades at the EICC on Thursday, May 18, in front of more than 820 guests.

Meigle’s Bruce Farms took home two awards, for primary producer of the year and overall business of the year, after farming in East Perthshire for four generations.

Errol-based Mackie’s at Taypack Ltd came away with export business of the year, as it exports its crisps to 20 countries around the world.

There are celebrations too in Methven’s Strathearn Distillery as Liam Pennycook took home the young talent award.

James Withers, CEO of Scotland Food and Drink, said:“Scotland is home to some of the most innovative producers and these awards give us the chance to celebrate this.

“It was fantastic to see new start-ups as well as established businesses come out on top. The industry is constantly growing, but there is always room for young pioneers, innovative products and enterprising businesses.”

Keith Brooke, chairman of sponsors the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland, added: “Championing the best comes second nature to the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland, which is why we are proud to be a supporter of these awards.

“Congratulations to all the winners - it is a huge achievement and one to relish as getting to this stage is no doubt the result of significant hard work and skill, particularly when you see the standard of the companies shortlisted this year.”
