Police issue fresh iTunes scam warning

Crime updates

About 7pm on Wednesday, May 10 a man entered the Co-op, Main Street, Bridge of Earn, and stole alcohol. He was challenged by the staff but returned a short time later, broke into a secure room and stole more alcohol. The 52-year-old was later arrested by police and is currently on remand awaiting sentencing.

About 6.15pm on Saturday, May 13, firefighte­rs saw a 30 year-old man at Perth Fire Station attempting to enter cars. The firefighte­rs chased and apprehende­d the man until police arrived. The man is currently on remand awaiting trial.

Reported incidents

* Crieff-based officers are looking to trace three teenage boys caught on CCTV stealing a rubber dinghy from a wooded area off Laggan Road, Crieff on Friday, May 12.

* A red Skoda Yeti car was vandalised in Green Park, Kinross overnight on Tuesday, May 9.

* The Boat House Bistro, Pier Road, Kinross was broken into about 2.15am on Monday, May 15.

* A thief stole a selection of bakery items that had been delivered to Kintillo Newsagents, Bridge of Earn about 2.30am on Wednesday, May 10.

* A large window was smashed at a property in Greystane Road, Invergowri­e about 11pm on Sunday, May 14.

* Overnight on Friday, May 12 a grey Vauxhall Astra parked in Noble Avenue, Invergowri­e had the front windscreen damaged.

* Officers are keen to trace a group of 13-14 year old boys and girls following a spate of vandalisms between May 7 and 10 to caravans at Westhaugh Farm, Ashgrove Road, Rattray.

* About 11am on Wednesday, May 10 a 20-25 year-old man attended at a property in Victoria Place, Rattray where he pretended to be from Perth and Kinross Council in an attempt to persuade the householde­r to give him work opportunit­ies. I would like to remind householde­rs not to employ cold callers and to use reputable companies when work is required.

* At 10am on Tuesday, May 9 a householde­r in Shaw Street, Blairgowri­e was contacted by telephone and persuaded to purchase a large quantity of iTunes vouchers and provide the caller with the serial numbers. This is part of a known scam and I urge Perth and Kinross residents to be aware of this and not fall foul of this fraudulent scheme.

* Between Saturday 13 and Monday, May 15 an attempt was made to break into Bayne Bakers and the Well Pharmacy, Rannoch Road, Perth.

* A patio door was damaged

Police have warned about accepting work requests from unannounce­d callers when stones were thrown at it about 8.30pm on Tuesday, May 9 at Duncansby Way, Perth.

* A young man was seen to smash the window of Phone Master, Scott Street, Perth about 2.30am on Wednesday, May 10.

* Overnight on Wednesday, May 10 a thief entered an unsecure black Vauxhall Astra in Tweedsmuir Road, Perth and stole property.

* About midnight on Saturday, May 13 a young man was seen to break a car wing mirror in South Street, Perth.

* Between May 12 and 13 a white Nissan van parked in Whitefriar­s Street, Perth had the windscreen broken. On the same night a white Vauxhall Astra had its windscreen broken in Strathyre Avenue, Perth.

* A white Vauxhall Mokka parked in Rannoch Road, Perth had the tyres damaged between Thursday 11 and Friday, May 12.
