Jools in the crown of fest

The Loft sponsors sell-out concert

- Gordon Bannerman

Perth businessman John Bryden and daughter Georgia enjoyed back stage passes to meet Perth Festival of the Arts showstopper Jools Holland.

John, whose South Street club The Loft sponsored the sell-out Jools and his Rhythm and Blues Orchestra concert, is a long-time fan of the band leader and annual May festival.

He explained: “The Festival of the Arts is nudging towards its 50th anniversary and is a key plank in the 2021 City of Culture bid.

“Being born and raised in Perth myself, I am well aware of how it helps put the city on the cultural map.

“Last year The Loft sponsored the appearance of KT Tunstall at Perth Concert Hall and we were delighted to get on board again for Jools Holland.

“Georgia and I were delighted to meet Jools and he was in superb form. He said he enjoyed wandering around the city and also showed an interest in what events were staged at The Loft.

“Jools really is a one-off and his concert is always a highlight of the Perth Festival.

“The Loft was proud to play a role Georgia and John Bryden with Jools Holland before his Perth show

in bringing him back to the city and if he returns again next year we’d be delighted to support the concert.”

Festival administrator Sandra Ralston noted: “The Loft was a new venue for us this year and quickly sold out for Martin Taylor

and Alison Burns celebrating the music of Ella Fitzgerald.

“Jools is a regular on the festival calendar.

“And it’s fantastic news that The Loft is already thinking of extending their ties with us.”
