Blackford Games will kick off a fortnight of family fun in the Perthshire community on Saturday.

One-time wrestler Andy Robin is to be guest of honour at the event after accepting the role of chieftain.

Crowds will be treated to a host of sports and other activities, from cycling and running to heavyweights and Highland dancing at the games park.

This year’s Blackford Gala Queen is Tegan McLaren with attendants Millie Williams and Iona Shedden, who will be at the event. It is due to officially open from 1pm.

Blackford Gala - which marks its 40th anniversary in 2017 - will then take over the festivities in the lead up to Gala Day on Sunday, June 11.

A packed programme of activities, from treasure hunts both on foot (May 30) and by car (June 9), as well as a family games night on Wednesday, June 7, is being lined up.

On the gala day itself events start at 1pm with Gala Queen Tegan McLaren and attendants resuming duties on the day. There will be floats and fancy dress, races and the traditional north v south and suburbs battle based on results from team challenges throughout the day.
