Bike ride kicks off busy summer

- Aberfeldy JAC

On Saturday, June 10, members of Aberfeldy Junior Agricultural Club are planning to dust down their bikes and cycle 34 miles around Loch Tay, starting and ending in Kenmore.

The members taking part are looking to raise funds to support the future and development of their club, allowing them to host more events and give new and current members even more to enjoy from being a member.

Young Farmers is a youth group for 14-30 year-olds and helps to bring young people in rural Scotland who are interested in agriculture and the countryside together.

The club offers massive personal development opportunities to all members. and each club is lead by the members for the members, which encourages young people to think and speak for themselves.

Aberfeldy Young Farmers covers a large area of Highland Perthshire from Glenlyon, Kinloch Rannoch, Killin, Aberfeldy, Pitlochry, Blair Atholl, Dunkeld and everywhere in between.

It has an active membership of 25 this year, but local secretary Amy Kennedy told the PA: “We would love to see this grow and by raising funds from our sponsored cycle, we can hopefully achieve this.

“The Young Farmers motto is ‘Not just for those who wear wellies.’ This is very much true as the club welcomes members from any background, not just farming. There is definitely something for everyone when you sign up.”
