Top team take the grand prize at Mackay’s Testimonial day
Testimonial committee chairman Scott Findlay and Dave Mackay with winners Team Preston Team Allan Preston took the honours at the Sidey Dave Mackay Testimonial Golf Day at Blairgowrie.
The former St Johnstone midfielder’s team edged out current star Liam Craig’s side – which included Hibs star David Gray - on a countback, after clocking up 81 points over the Lansdowne course.
But Radio Scotland pundit Biscuits couldn’t claim any of the credit - because he had to call in a replacement after being summoned away by work commitments.
He left it to fellow Duddingston club members, former Hearts striker John Robertson, Tam Ebbs, Keith Sands and Max Christie to fly the flag.
Sharing third spot were Stephen Gardiner Construction and M&S Accountancy.
Former Saints skipper Mackay was joined at the event which kicked off his testimonial year by Perth manager Tommy Wright, chairman Steve Brown and current captain Steven Anderson.
Testimonial committee chairman Scott Findlay said:“The course was in excellent condition and Blairgowrie looked after us very well.
“We are grateful for the support from all the teams and hole and raffle prize sponsors, along with main sponsor Sidey and supporters Booker, Belhaven, Carbon Financial Partners, Bannerman Decorators, St Johnstone and Highland Spring.”
