Pitlochry club put on another top show Weightlift­ing

Weightlift­ers from across Scotland descended on Highland Perthshire at the weekend.

Pitlochry Weightlift­ing Club hosted the Scottish Youth and the second round of the Scottish Developmen­t Cup.

The Scottish Youths witnessed five Pitlochry members on the podium with four titles bagged.

Aimee Robertson, in her first competitio­n, won the 53kg class with a 25kg snatch and a 32kg clean and jerk for a 57kg total.

There was a 15th Scottish title for Rowan Morrogh Bernard, who was competing in the 58kg class.

She recorded a 60kg snatch and a personal best jerk of 78kg for a 138 kg total, which qualifies her for the European Youths in Kosovo.

Sister Holly Morrogh Bernard triumphed in the 75+kg class with a 65kg snatch and a 75kg jerk for a 140kg total - a 13th Scottish title.

Holly also set 14 Scottish records in the snatch and total from Under 15 up to senior level.

Meanwhile, Jamie Kemp won his second Scottish title in the 85kg class with a 33kg snatch and a 42kg jerk for a 75kg total.

He finished ahead of club mate Lewis Murray who snatched 25kg and jerked 37kg for a 62kg total.

Six club members took part in the Developmen­t Cup with Craig Meldrum winning the 40 kg (U9) class with a 9kg snatch and 12kg jerk for a 69 points total.

Eve Kemp triumphed in the 40kg (U10) class by snatching 15kg and jerking 20kg for a 99 points total. Kaine Johnston claimed second place.

Continuing the club’s success was Rosie Morrogh Bernard, winning the 40kg (U11) class with a 19kg snatch and a 23kg jerk for a 114 points total.

Logan Johnston then won the 40kg (U11) class by producing a 10kg snatch and a 13kg jerk for a 61 points total.

Robertson was eligible to compete in both competitio­ns and, in the 53kg (U13) class, she won with a 25kg snatch and a 32kg jerk for a 109 points total.
