Queen’s Badge award for BB star Callum

The Boys Brigade’s highest award was conferred on a member of the 2nd Blairgowri­e Company recently.

Callum Stewart was among 84 Boys’Brigade members to be awarded the Queen’s Badge at a special presentati­on ceremony in Blairgowri­e Parish Church.

Dedicated youngsters from Perth and Kinross, Stirlingsh­ire, Dundee and Angus, Fife and Falkirk were honoured by Lord Lieutenant Brigadier Melville Jameson.

A variety of skills and objectives were achieved in order for them to receive the certificat­e, including a combined total of 7,158 hours spent volunteeri­ng.

Among those watching the event were Provost Dennis Melloy of Perth and Kinross Council, Alistair Burrow, Brigade Vice President and Alan Hunter, Training and Developmen­t Officer at the BB.

Mr Hunter said:“Completion of the Queen’s Badge shows a high level of commitment and dedication, and an ability to work as part of a team, Members of BB companies from central and northern Scotland were in Blairgowri­e for the presentati­on event

demonstrat­ing leadership and relationsh­ip building skills – all skills which employers and universiti­es welcome.”

This year 470 young people from across Scotland have completed the award. John Sharp, Director of The Boys’Brigade, Scotland, added: “I am so proud of our young people who have gained their Queen’s Badge. They have all displayed exceptiona­l levels of dedication, diligence and their commitment to volunteeri­ng is simply inspiring.”
