Medal time for Strathtay Harriers

-

Four Perth Strathtay Harriers travelled to the Crownpoint Stadium in Glasgow to compete in the Red Star Disability Athletics Championships.

With the sun shining and competition fierce, it was always going to be an exciting day of action. And all Fair City participants returned with medals.

Scottish athletes were seeking qualification times and distances for the upcoming Special Olympics later this year.

The competition attracts the best athletes from across Scotland and covers the whole range of disability classifications.

Racerunners Graeme Baxter and Wiktoria Mucha impressed to finish in the top three of each race they entered.

It was a busy day for T37 classification athlete Freya Howgate on the track and in the field. She picked up two gold medals in the discus and javelin events.

Freya also ran in the 100m race and smashed her personal best time.

Star of the day, however, went to the club’s youngest athlete Cameron Wilson.

The St Johns Primary School pupil set personal best performances across a number of events and won gold in the 60m.

The Harriers would like to thank all of the families and supporters of the athletes for making it another memorable day of athletics. Graeme Baxter, Cameron Wilson, Freya Howgate and Wiktoria Mucha
