Mental health plans set to be mapped out
Meetings this week
The future of mental health services in Perth and Kinross will be up for discussion at events being held starting this week.
Audiences in Auchterarder, Crieff and Kinross will be updated on what is being proposed by NHS Tayside for key community mental health services such as dementia care.
And the future of Crieff Community Hospital’s Ward 1 - currently used for dementia treatment but which has been facing closure - will be part of those meetings.
The Your Community, Your Voice, Your Future - Engaging with communities in South Perthshire events will be held starting from Friday this week.
These are between 10am and noon at Aytoun Town Hall, Auchterarder; between 2pm and 4pm, at Strathearn Community Campus, Crieff and then on Tuesday, August 1, between 10am and noon, at Loch Leven Community Campus, Kinross.
Robert Packham, Chief Officer for Perth and Kinross Health and Social Care Partnership, said: “We would like the local community to help us further improve the health and care services we provide.
“The views of the communities in South Perthshire are very important to us.
“It is vital that our local health services respond to the needs of the communities and we want to ensure that care is delivered by the right person, in the right place, at the right time.
“We are keen for members of the public to get involved and feedback their views, opinions and ideas for health and social care in their own communities.”
A community-based model of care has been in place in the Blairgowrie area for a few years and it is considered likely a similar arrangement will be put in place for Kinross-shire and west Perthshire. Changes are expected to affect one of the hospital wards
