Larder full of tasty produce

-

Manager Sarah Laidlaw There’s lots to shout about at Drovers Larder, from fresh local produce to quirky and unusual items.

Owner Kenneth Headspeath and manager Sarah Laidlaw have been running Drovers Larder on Perth’s South Street since January, bringing a quality butchers and a farm shop right into the heart of the city centre.

The larder hosts a range of local produce, quality and ethically-farmed meats, and hot filled rolls to take away. The shelves are brimming with seasonal local produce, such as Rannoch smokies, Highland beef, Hebridean lamb, a number of local cheeses, tasty oatcakes and award-winning pies.

Kitchens can also be stocked up with store cupboard essentials from Drovers Larder, with breakfast granola from Auchterarder, salad dressings from Muthill, and eggs from Gloagburn, with plenty more to tempt the tastebuds.

Manager Sarah said: “The main idea is we are a Drovers Larder on South Street

butchers and a farm shop covering all bases - the pies and meats here really are the best. Everything is guaranteed to be freerange and ethical, because the quality of our products is very important to us.

“We want to support local producers as well, we are like an in-house farmers’ market. You don’t need to wait once a month for the market to come, you can pick all of it up in here.”

One of the best things about Drovers Larder is their hot rolls, made with the butcher’s cuts of meat, and are very well filled.

Sarah added: “The freshly cooked hot filled rolls are double-filled, and we use the meat from the counter in them. There’s sausages, black pudding and bacon to choose from, and everyone who comes in for hot filled rolls comes back. You can really taste the difference.”

As well as the local and ethical produce, there are also a few quirky items on sale for the more adventurous, including kangaroo sausages, alpaca steaks, and gluten-free camel burgers.

Drovers Larder is open every day except Sundays.
