Security boost as fence goes up

£18k wind farm grant for club

- Melanie Bonn

Breadalbane Community Football Club have a great defence – around the ground at least.

A new high-specification sports fence has been built on the boundaries of the Highland Perthshire club to replace the original fence, erected 37 years ago, which had fallen into disrepair.

It has been possible thanks to a grant of £18,500 from SSE Griffin and Calliachar Community Fund.

Alongside the grant, Tony Holt Breadalbane FC raised additional funding through a charity casino night and also enlisted the generous support of club volunteers in dismantling the old fencing and clearing scrub to keep costs from escalating.

Breadalbane FC president Neil McAdam said: “The new fencing and gates will assist the club with security well into the future, enhancing the development of football and its continuing support to Aberfeldy and beyond.

“I would like to thank SSE Griffin and Calliachar Community Fund for their support throughout the grant application, without which this project would never have happened. I also want to say a big thankyou to the club volunteers for getting their hands dirty and Hugh Lambie Contractor for completing the project on time and budget.”
