Exploring city through Minecraft

-

As well as all the thrills and spills at Perth’s Medieval Fayre, fans of the game Minecraft will be able to explore Perth digitally.

Perth Museum and Art Gallery will be inviting children in between noon and 5pm to view 12th Century Perth recreated on the popular game Minecraft.

Minecraft Perth will be projected onto a large screen at the museum, and there will be a demonstration and the chance to play the game itself.

Ruth Bowbeer from Tay Landscape Partnership explained: “It very much depends on numbers, but we hope to be able to give people a chance to have a go of the game itself.

“We are going to have a medieval historian with us on the day who can talk through what Perth as a city would have been like as we explore the Minecraft city, and this will help inform people how to play the game.

“We’re really excited for people to come and see it!”

Ruth added those who wish to explore and play medieval Perth on their own Minecraft game will even be able to download a version for themselves.

She continued: “If they bring along a memory stick they can get a download of the game from the company’s computer. Eventually the download is going to go up on our website, and people will be able to go online and download medieval Perth through a link.”
