Wee Jaunt is a huge hit

- Ross Gardiner

Friends and families of all ages enjoyed a traffic-free cycle through Perth city centre on the Wee Jaunt bike ride.

The cycle, which was part of Scotland’s biggest bike event, Pedal for Scotland, kicked off a day of active family fun across the city on Sunday morning.

Around 250 people enjoyed a six-mile pedal on closed roads from Perth Concert Hall, around the city centre and North Inch, as part of an event which took place on the same day as Perth on the Go.

Keith Irving, chief executive of Wee Jaunt and Cycling Scotland organiser, said:“Seeing so many friends and families coming together for a fun day out is great to see, and many of those who took part today will continue to enjoy cycling after the event.

The Wee Jaunt Perth is part of Pedal for Scotland.

Now in its 19th year, the wider project regularly attracts around 10,000 people – who take part in a combination of the Wee Jaunt, Classic Challenge and Big Belter rides.

Many participants raised money for children and young people affected by poverty by supporting the event’s charity partner, the STV Children’s Appeal.
