Treasure hunt for charity
Scotland’s leading neurological charity is calling on Perthshire families to look out their map and compass for a fundraising treasure hunt.
Organised by the Scottish Huntington’s Association, the hunt will take place in scenic Highland Perthshire Saturday, October 14.
The 50-mile route starts in Pitlochry before heading north to Blair Atholl, west to Tummel Bridge and then south to Aberfeldy before looping back to the starting point.
Entrants will be asked to carry out a series of tasks along the way with a variety of prizes on offer.
Huntington’s is a degenerative genetic condition, with those affected becoming symptomatic between the ages of 30 and 50 years.
A spokesperson for the charity explained symptoms can include a combination of early onset dementia, loss of muscle control and involuntary movements, loss of speech and swallowing ability. There is currently no cure, although pioneering research is continuing.
Dougie Peddie, a fundraising manager for the charity, said: “There is probably nowhere better to have treasure hunt. Perthshire really has some of the best scenery in the country, so why not bring the family along, take in the scenery and have some fun along the way,”
