Visitors to Perth Show were treated to fantastic live cooking demonstrations from celebrity chef JeanChristophe Novelli.

The multi Michelin Star winning chef gave two demonstrations, cooking Scottish lamb on Friday morning and salmon ratatouille in the afternoon at Perthshire on a Plate.

The Frenchman was delighted to be performing at Perth Show, and couldn’t turn down the opportunity to come to Scotland.

Jean-Christophe enjoyed the local produce, as well as a VIP lunch with ten lucky ladies.

“I have been to Scotland lots of times before and I think I prefer coming here than going to France! Perth Show has been great, I enjoyed having lunch with the great group of ladies and the local produce on show is fantastic.”

The 5/5 AA Rosette winning chef prepared lamb in a both healthy and tasty style, emphasising the benefit of good quality local ingredients.

“I’m preparing lamb which doesn’t need any salt or butter or olive oil. The meat here is raised in such good fields and it’s totally organic, so it is fanastic quality.”

Later on, JeanChristophe prepared a french twist on a Tayside classic, salmon ratatouille, with two students from Perth College UHI.

“The salmon from the River Tay is famous around the world for being such high quality.”

Thoroughly impressed by the local produce and chefs, Jean-Christophe talked about his visit to a Crieff hotel and restaurant as his highlight of Perthshire.

“Jason Henderson at Knock Castle in Crieff really impressed me. He made Scottish scallops with a white chocolate risotto, and at first I thought he was crazy but I couldn’t believe how amazing it tasted - I almost fell out of my chair!”
