Easton now wants to make amends

- Matthew Gallagher

Richard Foster looks to steal the ball from Steven Lawless St Johnstone ................. 0 Partick Thistle .............. 3 St Johnstone defender Brian Easton is determined to make up for the Betfred Cup disappointment.

The Perth squad were sent tumbling out of the competition at the last 16 stage by Partick Thistle on Tuesday evening.

Second half goals from Steven Lawless, Ryan Edwards and Chris Erskine made it an evening to forget for Saints.

But now Easton is hoping to bounce back in style when the McDiarmid men welcome Motherwell in the league this weekend.

He said: “We thoroughly believed that we had a great chance of going through. We’re disappointed but it’s back down to business to put it behind us.

“It’s really disappointing and there aren’t many positives to take from a 3-0 defeat in the cup. But we’ll need to try turn it around on Saturday.

“If you get a win there then you are back feeling great about yourself with a great start to the league season. We’ll get over it and move on.

“The place was buzzing after the way we won against Kilmarnock on the first day - and getting off to a great start to the season.

“It will be a tough game on Saturday and that is what we need to concentrate on now.”

Clear-cut opportunities were of a premium during a first half which failed to excite the crowd of 2,619 at McDiarmid Park.
