Appeal for informatio­n after‘hit and run’

The incident took place on Tuesday A teenage boy was taken to hospital after what police have described as a “hit and run” on the same day as the schools returned after the summer holidays.

The 13-year-old was taken to Perth Royal Infirmary after he was hit by a car just before 10am on Tuesday at Viewlands Terrace in Perth.

Police appealed for informatio­n after the car drove off after the incident without stopping.

A spokespers­on for Police Scotland confirmed: “Police Scotland is appealing for informatio­n about a hit and run road traffic collision which happened in Viewlands Terrace, Perth, shortly before 10am today.

“A 13-year-old boy was struck by a small silver or light coloured car which drove off without stopping. Fortunatel­y he is thought to have suffered only minor injuries.

“If anyone has any informatio­n which could help police enquiries, please call 101 or speak to any police officer.”

A spokespers­on for the Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed the teen had been taken to Perth Royal Infirmary for treatment.

He said: “We received a call at 9.57am today to attend an incident on Viewlands Terrace in Perth. We dispatched one ambulance to the scene.

“One male patient in his teens was taken to Perth Royal Infirmary.”

The incident comes on the day pupils returned to school after the summer holidays.
