Shared equity success plans in Muirton

- Ross Gardiner

Caledonia’s Shared Equity properties in Perth are selling fast.

Two months after launching the properties for sale, Caledonia has sold nearly three quarters of the properties available in the Muirton Perth development.

There were 12 two-bedroom houses and nine three-bedroom houses available to purchase in two phases: phase one available from September 2017 and phase two from spring 2018.

Ten of the two-bedroom and four of the three-bedroom houses in a mixture of phase one and phase two have already been successfully allocated, with only two two-bedroom houses left in phase two and five three-bedroom houses left in phase one.

Craig Davidson (25), who works in a Perth supermarket is one of the newly signed up home owners.

He said“I currently rent in Perth. The shared equity scheme has enabled me to get on the property ladder – something I probably wouldn’t have been able to do on my wage without Shared Equity. I’m so pleased and I can’t wait to move in.”

The shared equity homes are part of Caledonia’s drive to provide 1,000 new affordable homes by 2022, with the shared equity homes supporting people to take their first step on to the property ladder working in conjunction with the Scottish Government’s New Supply Shared Equity (NSSE) Scheme.
