Coupar Angus

Abbey Church The service on Sunday of last week was conducted by Rev Andy Graham. The readings by Jeff Brewer were taken from One Kings chapter 19, verses 9-15 and Matthew chapter 14, verses 22-33. In his sermon Rev Graham referred to the readings which tackled the issue of spiritual faith. The second reading referred to the miracle of Jesus walking on the water towards the boat containing the disciples. Jesus called Peter out to join him, who also walked on the water but as the storm developed, grew fearful and began to sink. Jesus reached out to save him and he was admonished for having little faith. The minister said that people often question their faith and find themselves in crisis. They are reminded that Jesus can deliver them from the ‘storms of life’ through faith and they should have faith in Jesus to rescue them. Organist Austin Wilkie played Autumn Eve by J Guest, a medley of Glen Campbell tunes, as a tribute, and Recessional Voluntary in E flat major by T Pattison. Continued on page 27
