Continued There will be no meetings of the prayer group in the church this month and meetings resume on September 6, at 2pm. Choir rehearsals resume that day and will be held from 6pm to 7pm. Anyone interested in joining the choir should speak to Austin or come to rehearsals. The Bible study group resumes on September 13, at 7.15pm when members will look at Luke’s gospel. Rev Graham is on holiday from August 17-31 inclusive. Volunteers are required on Sunday after the service to help tidy up the gallery and should speak to Irene Henderson. The Children’s Ministry groups resume on Thursday, August 24. Thanks to the leaders and helpers who gave up their time and talents each week. Help is also required to set up the groups in the church on Mondays at 9.30am and Thursdays at 9pm to clear away tables and set up the church for the Sunday service. Anyone able to help should speak to Donna Hindmarch. The service on Sunday takes place at 11.15am to 12.15pm. Thursday Friends Allan and Sheila Legge and Margaret Taylor would like to thank all members and local people who supported the charity shop last week, either by donations or purchasing goods. They would also like to extend a special thanks to Margaret Graham and Joe Richards for all that they did. The sum of £1640 was raised which will go towards the Thursday Friends’ Christmas meal. The afternoon parties resume in the town hall on Thursday, September 14, at 2pm. Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy live music and afternoon tea.

Bowling Club The lotto numbers this week were 8, 11, 12 and 16. There were no winners, and next week’s prize money will now be £2000. Dunning Church The service on Sunday at 11am will be conducted by the Rev Bill Buchan. A Souper Sunday lunch will be held in the church hall after the morning Service on Sunday, August 27, with a selection of soups, breads and cheeses on offer. Any donations will go towards the Church of Scotland HIV projects. All will be made welcome. The next LECT Guild project night will be held in Arngask on Monday, August 28, and will feature guest speaker Val Brown from the Christian Aid charity.

Findo Gask

Flower and produce show A flower and produce show will be held in Findo Gask Hall on Sunday, August 20, at 4pm. Green-fingered residents and those with baking expertise or a flair for floral arrangemen­ts can come along on the day and view the entries in this year’s competitio­ns. Classes will range from mis-shapen vegetables to posters and tray bakes to summer blooms. Afternoon tea will be available and there will also be a plant stall held in aid of the Hedgehog Rescue charity. A schedule for the show will be available by contacting 730260. Prior to the event, residents can work together at the regular litter pick to collect rubbish left around the town. Volunteers should report to Findo Gask Hall on the day at 2.30pm, and equipment will be provided.

Errol Church The morning worship service on Sunday at 11am will include a baptism and confirmati­on and will be conducted by Rev John MacGregor. Flower show Errol Horticultu­ral Associatio­n will hold its annual flower show on Saturday, August 26. Schedules can be obtained from the post office or the butchers in the village. The show opens for exhibits on the Friday at 7pm to 9pm, and again from 8am to 9.30am on the Saturday. It will open again for the showing of exhibits from 1.30pm to 3pm when the trophies will be presented by Rev John MacGregor. All welcome.

Forteviot

Forteviot Bowling Club The lotto numbers drawn on Tuesday, August 8 were 1, 3, 4 and 20. There was no winner and next week’s rollover draw of £1000 will be held in the clubhouse on Tuesday, August 22, at 7pm. Forteviot Church The service this Sunday at 9.30am will be conducted by Rev Sandy Gunn, followed by an additional service held at 2pm. There will be tea and a chat in the village hall afterwards and an opportunit­y to view the art exhibition. All welcome.

Glenfarg

Tennis Club A pop-up pub will be held in the village hall this Saturday, August 19. The village’s world famous duck race will take place on the Sunday, starting on the village hall green at 1pm. Attraction­s will include a barbecue, bar, entertainm­ent for the kids and lots more. This is traditiona­lly one of the best family days out during the entire year, and all are welcome. Baby and toddlers’ group Glenfarg’s baby and toddlers’ group meets in the village hall on Mondays from 9.30am. New members are welcome to drop in for a coffee and join this friendly group. Youngsters from newborns right up to children starting primary school are welcome to join. All will be made welcome. Turrets Bar grand opening The famous Bein Inn will have its grand opening tonight (Friday, August 18), from 7pm. Live music on the night will be provided by The Leveneers. Everyone is welcome to come along and join in for a food sample tasting and a compliment­ary glass of punch. Park run A new park run event will be starting in Glenfarg on Saturdays or Sundays. Park run is a free timed run for all ages and includes pets and is being run by volunteers. Lower Earn Churches Together (LECT) Guild will meet in Arngask Church, Glenfarg on Monday, August 28, at 7.30pm. Val Brown, from Christian Aid, will talk about how the Guild. Through the funding of solar ovens, it has made a dramatic difference to communitie­s in Bolivia and the forests are being preserved as a result, mitigating against the effects of climate change. All are welcome to come along.

St Martins Church The morning worship service in the church this Sunday will be led by Rev Alan Livingston­e at 9.30am. All members, friends and visitors will be made welcome. Charity night A charity race night, grand raffle and auction took place in the Thistle Hotel, Milnathort on Thursday of this week. The founding members of the charity thank all those who came along and supported this event, with all proceeds going towards the Haiti Help charity. Kinross Netball Club Training sessions resume in the large sports hall of Loch Leven community campus on Friday of this week, between 7pm and 8pm. New members welcome. Crook and Drum Growing Together The official opening of the new flower bed will take place on the green on Sunday, August 20, at noon. Kinross/Ochil Walking Group The next trek will be to Tillicoult­ry Glen and Alva on Sunday, August 20 - a distance of seven miles. It will be a steep walk up, round and down the recently upgraded glen using new stairways, before going into Alva and returning via the woodland park.
