Fight to meet time targets
Perth railway station has failed to meet national punctuality targets set by the Scottish Government.
ScotRail trains must arrive at their station within five minutes of their scheduled arrival time 90.8 per cent of the time under strict standards.
But, the city station, along with a host of others including Crianlarich, all failed to meet this target.
Arrivals and trains terminating at Perth within the five minute time was at 90.4 per cent in the past year.
Within a 59 second time limit Perth achieved a 77.5 per cent success rate for terminating trains and it stood at 68 per cent for arrivals.
Liz Smith, MSP for Mid-Scotland and Fife, says she is concerned about these figures and has urged ScotRail not to“rest on its laurels”over the matter.
She said:“The recently released national passenger survey showed that ScotRail had made significant improvements in delivering better customer service, but ultimately delayed services undermine Abellio [which operate the ScotRail franchise]’s ability to satisfy travellers.
“Within Mid-Scotland and Fife Arrivals at Perth Station were short of the 90.8 per cent punctuality expectation there are stations like Perth, which narrowly missed the target, and others like Crianlarich that are miles behind meeting them. “ScotRail must not rest on its laurels following the passenger survey and should strive to improve punctuality on their services across Mid-Scotland and Fife, particularly in places like Crianlarich.”
