Triathlon competitors are Wild at heart

-

Competitors from across Scotland were in action at Perth Triathlon Club’s fifth Relay Wild Triathlon event.

The family friendly atmosphere was kicked off by a kids fun run which took place before the main race, with younger athletes completing the course in the grounds of Kilgraston School.

For the main event, teams of four completed a 200m swim, 6km bike and 1.2km run.

Edinburgh#3 Team 2’s Forbes Jackson, Jake Mitchell, Jonathon Jackson and Cameron Turner clocked 1:17:43 to break the course record and lift the title.

The female race was won by Team Girl Power with Lisa McDermott, Michelle McLaughlin, Vicky Kennedy and Katrina Lockie storming home in 1:38:19.

And the mixed team victors were EH#3 Team 1’s Lauren Dixon, Andrew Rolland, Susan Nisbett and Colin Turner in 1:22:56.

Over 140 athletes were in action on the day and race organiser Gillian Kennedy said:“We organise this with an emphasis on getting people who have never taken part in triathlon before to see how much fun it can be. Having a team beside them to share the experience makes it all the better.

“We are delighted with how much people enjoy our event and we look forward to running it again in 2018.” Winners of the women’s race. Pics by: Ian Potter/PK Perspective This squad from Edinburgh won the men’s race
