Highest possible mark

A Crieff-based home care agency earned the best possible grade for its qualities of care and support in a recent inspection.

Gowrie Care Ltd. West Perthshire, whose workers provide care to people with learning disabilities in Crieff and Kinross, also earned the second best possible grade for its quality of staffing.

In its report on the service the Care Inspectorate said: “We found that people got very personalised, responsive and flexible support from this service. They were assisted in a way that suited them to lead their life in the way they wanted.

“People were comfortable with their staff members and could talk to them about what was going on for them and how they were.

“We saw that where people did not communicate verbally but in other ways that staff knew each person well and that there was a good understanding and communication between the person and their staff.

“All staff received regular training in key areas. The manager and assistant managers had a very active and supportive presence in the service. They always made themselves available to staff and people supported, and were seen as offering excellent advice and support.”
