Council sessions for childminding
Perth and Kinross Council’s Childcare Strategy Team is to run free introductory sessions and pre-registration training courses for people considering childminding as a career from this week.
The sessions will also offer start-up grants and ongoing support.
The next introductory sessions are being held on Wednesday, August 30, with morning and evening events.
Pre-registration courses will follow in September, with the choice of attending either for two days or over four evenings.
As part of responses to the council’s recent Early Learning and Childcare consultation, families in some parts of Perth and Kinross said they would use a local childminder, if this service was available.
The Childcare Strategy Team has also been advised by some currently-operating childminders that they are planning to close over the next few months.
The team is particularly keen to hear from people who might be interested in childminding from Abernethy, Bridge of Earn, Glenfarg, Errol, Inchture, Almondbank, Bankfoot, Glenalmond, Methven, Ruthvenfield, Balbeggie, Scone, Auchterarder, Blackford, Braco, Comrie, Crieff, Greenloaning, Aberfeldy, Birnam, Blair Atholl, Grandtully, Pitlochry, Crook of Devon, Kinnesswood and Milnathort.
