Coun­cil ses­sions for child­mind­ing

Perth and Kin­ross Coun­cil’s Childcare Strat­egy Team is to run free in­tro­duc­tory ses­sions and pre-reg­is­tra­tion train­ing cour­ses for peo­ple con­sid­er­ing child­mind­ing as a ca­reer from this week.

The ses­sions will also of­fer start-up grants and on­go­ing sup­port.

The next in­tro­duc­tory ses­sions are be­ing held on Wed­nes­day, August 30, with morn­ing and even­ing events.

Pre-reg­is­tra­tion cour­ses will fol­low in Septem­ber, with the choice of at­tend­ing ei­ther for two days or over four evenings.

As part of re­sponses to the coun­cil’s re­cent Early Learn­ing and Childcare con­sul­ta­tion, fam­i­lies in some parts of Perth and Kin­ross said they would use a lo­cal child­min­der, if this ser­vice was avail­able.

The Childcare Strat­egy Team has also been ad­vised by some cur­rently-op­er­at­ing child­min­ders that they are plan­ning to close over the next few months.

The team is par­tic­u­larly keen to hear from peo­ple who might be in­ter­ested in child­mind­ing from Aber­nethy, Bridge of Earn, Glen­farg, Er­rol, Inch­ture, Al­mond­bank, Bank­foot, Gle­nal­mond, Methven, Ruthven­field, Bal­beg­gie, Scone, Auchter­arder, Black­ford, Braco, Com­rie, Cri­eff, Green­loan­ing, Aber­feldy, Bir­nam, Blair Atholl, Grand­tully, Pit­lochry, Crook of Devon, Kin­ness­wood and Mil­nathort.
