Sparks art show

Artwork created by participan­ts of the Sparks Group working with Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust went on display this week in Kinross.

The final display was exhibited on Thursday at Loch Leven Community Campus is part of Tayside Healthcare Arts Trust’s (THAT) Visual Arts programme, which aims to improve wellbeing for people living with mixed long-term conditions.

Artist Katie Guthrie has been working with the Sparks Group over the eight-session programme, which is designed to explore a variety of artistic techniques in a fun and enjoyable way.

Katie said:“Everyone has produced some really unique art works, we have had great fun and they have been a great group to work with.”

THAT developmen­t officer, Karine Neill, said: “The projects are all about the participan­t’s enjoyment and their developmen­t over the course of the programme.

“Katie has worked really well with the group to explore the group’s creative ideas. They have been a fantastic group to work with.”

The Sparks Group meets to provide support for adults with disabiliti­es and is a forum to promote good mental health and wellbeing.

NHS Tayside project worker Shona Fowler said: “The group has really enjoyed taking part in this programme and trying a new and different activity to create some great art work.”
