Responding all over Scotland

-

Scotland’s Charity Air Ambulance (SCAA) was part of a multi-service response to a three vehicle road traffic collision near Cleghorn in South Lanarkshire.

Several casualties were taken to hospital and SCAA airlifted a seriously injured man to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital at Glasgow.

One of SCAA’s paramedics stayed at the scene to allow a trauma doctor and a retrieval practitioner to travel to hospital in the aircraft with the casualty.

SCAA was also called to an agricultural accident near Coldstream where a man was crushed in a piece of machinery.

The crew worked alongside colleagues from the Scottish Ambulance Service, the Special Operations Response Team and Police Scotland before airlifting the seriously injured man to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary.

Another emergency call out saw SCAA respond to a serious road traffic accident near Inveraray where a motorcyclist was badly injured. SCAA airlifted the injured man, accompanied by a critical care team, to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital at Glasgow.

The crew was back on the Glasgow hospital’s rooftop helipad the following day with a woman patient injured during a fell run near Inverkip. SCAA managed to land relatively close to the injured woman on the steep, uneven, boggy ground and airlifted her on the quick 10-minute flight to hospital.

And cheers to staff at drinks company Morrison & MacKay at Aberargie who raised £630 for SCAA at a recent fundraising event.

The staff at Perth Job Centre have also been busy on SCAA’s behalf, raising £92.42 at a recent Dress Down Day and Guess The Baby competition. This latest fundraising fun brings their running total of support for the charity to £1,133.

Pitlochry Station Bookshop have also steamed in with their latest £300 donation taking their total support to a first class £24,442.

Tayside branch of the Scottish Endurance Riding Group held a cake sale and donated a tasty £100 to SCAA. And the Strathardle and Area Vintage Vehicle Club raised £500 at their recent tractor road run.
