Walk for good cause becomes family affair
Parkinson’s cash
Cherry Morey and family More than 80 people turned out for a recent Kinross-shire charity walk.
In excess of £6000 was raised during Walk for Parkinson’s at Loch Leven on Sunday, August 27.
The well-attended event at the picturesque nature reserve had a particular poignancy for one family of participants.
Cherry Morey has been living with the degenerative neurological condition for the past 12 years.
Husband Tony said: “It is only this year that we have had the transport to get to a fundraising walk.
“Walking was probably our main activity before Parkinson’s. The family joined us and helped push the wheelchair – I hope no one thought that was cheating!
“The event was extremely friendly and it was great to be able to talk to others who have been affected.”
Siobhan O’Hara, Parkinson’s UK’s regional fundraiser for the east of Scotland, said: “Parkinson’s UK is delighted that so many people joined in on what was a great family day.
“We thank them all for their support. Special thanks go to Commonwealth wrestling medallist Jayne Clason for leading the warm-up and the Kinross-shire Cricket Club for making the event go so smoothly.
“Well done everyone - your efforts make it possible to fund worldleading research towards better treatments and a cure as well as enable the charity to provide vital local services.” Commonwealth Games wrestler Jayne Clason, right, with the Rigg family
