Church Senior Tuesday Club members are doing a sponsored night walk around Loch Leven on Saturday to assist in funding their 2018 weekend at the Abernethy Trust. Contributi­ons can be made to the young folk themselves or to anyone in the leadership team. Many thanks in advance for all support. A fashion show will be held in Dunning Village Hall at 7 for 7.30pm on Friday, September 29. Tickets are £10 and are available from Jane and Kay. Dunning Bowling Club The lotto numbers this week were 9, 10, 15, 20. There were no winners, next week’s prize money is £2000.

SWI President Helen Mitchell welcomed members to the first meeting of the new Session. She introduced Andy Roehr who spoke about the importance of taking care of feet. He also answered questions from members about various foot problems which can arise and how these can be dealt with. Forteviot

Bowling club Lotto numbers drawn on Tuesday were 9, 11, 13 and 16. There was no winner. The rollover is now £1000 and the next draw will take place on Tuesday, September 12, at 7pm in the clubhouse.

Glenfarg

Indian buffet A Tabla Indian buffet will be held in Glenfarg village hall on Saturday, September 23, from 7pm, tickets are priced £20 and includes a welcome drink. Available from the shop. Coffee morning This year’s Macmillan coffee morning will be held in the village hall on Saturday, from 10am to 12.30pm. There will be a raffle with tickets on sale from the shop prior to the event. If anyone would like to donate a raffle prize, these can be dropped off at the shop at any time. A bric-a-brac stall is also being planned in the meeting room on this day. AGM The village hall committee will hold its annual general meeting on Wednesday, September 13, at 7.30pm. All are welcome to attend this meeting. Ochils road race The Kinross Ochils bike race will be going through Glenfarg on Sunday, from 10am to noon. Residents should note that Duncrevie Road and Church Brae will be affected during this event. Zumba Classes have resumed after the school summer break and will run during term-time only. They will only stop if numbers are consistent­ly low. Zumba Gold is held on Mondays, from 2pm to 3pm, Zumba Fitness is on Tuesdays, 7pm to 8pm. Both classes are held in the village hall and cost £4 per class. Community cinema Glenfarg Community Cinema welcomes everyone back with a free glass of Prosecco. Delightful comedy, A Street Cat Named Bob, will be showing on Friday, at 7.30pm in the village hall.

Kettins

Parish Church Hall A meeting to discuss future options for Kettins Parish Church hall will be held from 7pm on Monday, September 18, in the church hall. A spokespers­on said: “There has been a significan­t setback in our plans to build a new hall in Kettins as we were unsuccessf­ul in our lottery [funding applicatio­n] bid. At present, we have not been able to identify The Pirates of Penzance returns to the stage as part of a series of performanc­es by Perth City Operatic Group this week.

Directed by Jonathan Cammidge and Gemma Stewart, and musical director Andy MacDonald, the classic operetta allows talented group members to show off their singing abilities.

Performanc­es began on Tuesday this week and run until Saturday at the Fair City’s North Inch Community Campus.

Curtain up is at 7.30pm. There is a 2.30pm matinee on Saturday.

The organist was Janet Coyle and the readings were from Exodus ch 3, v 1-15 and Matthew ch 16, v 16, 21-28 were given by Mike Service. The joint lunch club resumes on Tuesday, September 12, in Caputh session room, at 12.30pm. Elders are reminded of the session meeting in Kinclaven Hall on Wednesday, September 13, at 7pm. Services are held every Sunday at 9.45am with tea and coffee served in the hall afterwards.

Boys’ Brigade The new Boys’ Brigade sessions begin in the church centre, Kinross tonight on Friday this week. Anchors for boys and girls in primaries one, two and three starts from 6-7.15pm; Juniors for boys and girls in primaries four and six, begin at 7pm to 9pm; and Company section for boys and girls from primary seven to aged 18, from 7pm to 10pm. RSPB Loch Leven Activities at the centre begin with a bat walk on Friday this week from 8-9.30pm. Visitors can go along and try out bat detecting equipment and find out about these fascinatin­g creatures. Short Walks Group Kinross and Ochil Short Walks Group next meets on Tuesday, September 12, for a walk from Cupar to Cairnie fruit farm. Meeting at Kinross Park and Ride at 10am or 10.45am at Fluthers car park, Cupar. This will be an easy country walk on quiet roads and tracks. A distance of five miles with a break for refreshmen­ts at Cairnie fruit farm, before the return journey, with a slight incline at the start. Citizens’ Advice The next Perth Citizens’ Advice Bureau (CAB) outreach advice surgery will be held in St Paul’s Church hall, the Muirs, on Tuesday, September 12, from 1.30-3.30pm. Crook and Drum Growing Together The group will hold its autumn fayre in Crook of Devon village hall on Saturday, September 16, at 2pm. Kirkmichae­l

Church A silent auction in aid of Kirkmichae­l and Glenshee Church will be held in Blackwater Hall on Friday, September 8, at 7pm. There will be a raffle and a cake and candy sales table. Entry is £2, which includes tea and coffee. Session house The session house is taking part in this year’s Perthshire Open Studios event. Art and crafts from members of the community are on display until September 10, from 10am to 5pm (11am on Sunday). Pupils from Kirkmichae­l Primary School are taking part in the Anne Exley Art Award and visitors are asked to vote on which piece of work they prefer. This year’s theme is a Pictish long house. A flower festival is also being held in Kirkmichae­l Church.

SWI Members were welcomed to the 2017/18 session by president Liz Drummond. After the business meeting members were given brief instructio­n on the game of Scottish indoor carpet bowls, by Bert Aird, and had an enjoyable time playing. Competitio­n was the custard creams, and winners were Irene MacGregor, Christine Lord and Ros Pearson. Flower of the month was won by Ros Pearson.

Luncarty

Bowling club Lottery numbers this week were 9, 13, 14 and 16. There was no winning line, prize money next week is £2000. Church Sincere thanks were expressed to all who assisted and supported the church fete last Saturday. A figure in excess of £3300 was raised which was a fantastic effort by all concerned. The church service this week will be a joint communion service with Auchtergav­en and Moneydie Church, with the service in Bankfoot Church Centre at 11.15am, which will be conducted by Rev Adrian Lough. All welcome. Primary school Luncarty Primary School will celebrate its 40th anniversar­y with a special event at the school from 1-5pm on Saturday this week. There will be a whole host of stalls, barbecue and a bar. There will also be old pictures, school memorabili­a from throughout the years, live music and fun activities for children. Entry is free. In the evening, there will be a ceilidh featuring a performanc­e by the East Neuk Ceilidh Band. Tickets for the ceilidh are priced at £10 for adults or £20 for a family ticket, which covers up to two adults and four children.
