As part of the Great Perthshire Picnic, a month-long celebration of food and drink across Perth and Kinross, Giraffe Cafe is looking forward to hosting its Syrian Banquet Fundraiser on Saturday, September 9 in their Ladeside Garden Centre.

The banquet will be cooked by chef Mohamad, who himself owned a restaurant in Damascus in Syria before becoming a chef at Giraffe on the Fair City’s South Street.

Victoria Bramble, manger at Giraffe, said: “We are starting at 4pm at the Ladeside Gardens and hopefully we will have a beautiful day so we can host it outside. We have a lovely outdoor space there.

“Mohamad will be serving up a traditional Syrian banquet with food such as flatbreads, Syrian pizzas, and a couple of meat dishes as well. His dishes will have high-quality feta cheese, olive oil and sundried tomatoes through them and Mohamad has a couple of desserts up his sleeves too.”

The money raised on the day from the Syrian Banquet on Saturday will be split between Giraffe and Syrian Relief.

Tickets for the unique Syrian fundraiser banquet can be bought from Giraffe on South Street. Adults £10, children £5, contact 01738 449227 to reserve a place.
