The Bleachers welcome Scone Thistle in the North Division on Saturday afternoon as both teams look to build on their positive starts to the season.

Kelly believes the backing of a few extra fans can inspire his side, currently joint top in the standings, to victory against the Jags.

“We have made a positive start to the season and it is now up to us to keep this up,” Kelly explained to the Perthshire Advertiser. “The difference this season is we have more strength in depth within our squad.

“We are looking to stay up the right end of table challenging and to do this we must keep our levels high. This is what we try and drum into the whole squad.

“Scone is always a difficult fixture for us and I expect a very tough game. We didn’t beat them last year and this is something I will be looking to put right on Saturday.

“Again I’m hoping to get a decent crowd down on Saturday as this always spurs the players on the extra bit in the derby games.”

Similarly to last weekend, Kelly says he will be short of a full squad, but added: “We have a few lads missing on Saturday but this is again an opportunity for a few boys who have not been playing to get in the team and keep their place there.”

Elsewhere in the North Division, Coupar Angus boss Logan McConachie reckons last week’s cup win against Rosyth has his side craving more success.

The East of Scotland first round triumph was the club’s first of the competitive season and now they travel to Newburgh on Saturday with their tails up.

McConachie said: “We’ve got a really good group of lads and they’ve been gelling a lot faster than normal. The win has if anything kicked us up a gear, as we’ve known all along it wasn’t far away in coming.

“We had an emphatic 5-0 victory over Newburgh towards the end of last season, however, we are expecting a tougher test this weekend. They’ve started stronger in the league this season but we’re fully focused on picking up three points on our travels.

“We’ve got our guys returning back from injury, so we are getting good competition for places. It’s a big game this weekend and we expect to have all our squad available.”

Meanwhile, Kinnoull will hope to kick-start their season — and record a first win — when they travel to take on Brechin Vics this weekend. Blairgowrie are also on away duty for a clash with Fife side Lochore Welfare.

In the Super League, Jeanfield Swifts face an away trip to take on Forfar West End.
