Massive funding boostfor charity

- Rachel Clark

Home-Start Perth, a charity supporting young families, has announced it has received a much-needed funding boost to help develop their support to families in rural areas of Perth and Kinross.

Home-Start help families with children under the age of five by having trained volunteers visit families in their own homes on a weekly basis, and offer nonjudgemental practical and emotional support to help build confidence.

They have now received a grant of £59,925 from the Rural Perth and Kinross LEADER programme and the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development for their rural volunteer project.

This funding has been matched with a boost of £60,925 from The Gannochy Trust, Griffin and Calliacher Community Trust and the Perth and Kinross Parenting Strategy Fund.

Home-Start’s rural volunteering project aims to “significantly extend” their support to families in the region’s rural areas by recruiting, training and supporting new volunteers, in a project that will run until August 2019.
