Ospreys gosouth

-

All the ospreys at the Loch of the Lowes nature reserve have left for their winter migration.

The Scottish Wildlife Trust rangers at the Dunkeld reserve confirmed on Sunday, September 3 their male osprey LM12 and one of their osprey chicks PH2 left the nest and headed south on their migrations.

The female osprey LF15 left the reserve last month.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Wildlife Trust said: “On this mild, breezy September afternoon, Loch of the Lowes and surrounding areas is lying still and silent.

“The time has come to confirm that LM12 and PH2 have set off south on their migrations. The last confirmed osprey sighting was very early on Thursday morning however, there were several later possible osprey sightings, none of which landed or fished on the loch.

“It has been a wonderful season with two new healthy young ospreys up and on their way. We wish them all the very best of luck and truly hope we may see LM12 and LF15 back again next year.”
