Saints fans are offered reduced bus fares

- Ross Gardiner

St Johnstone have teamed up with Stagecoach to provide season ticket-holders with travel discount to reach the home ground at McDiarmid Park.

The new offer, named ‘Match Dayrider’, was launched ready for the Scottish Premiership match against Hibernian at McDiarmid Park on Saturday.

The deal will allow any supporters with a St Johnstone season ticket to travel to and from weekend home matches for 50 per cent less than they would otherwise.

Saints supporters only need to show their season ticket to the driver of the first Stagecoach bus they board on match day to receive the half-price discount.

The tickets are available for services covering Perth Zone 1, Perth Zone 2, Perth Zone 3, Tayside and East Scotland Zone.

Each zone ticket provides unlimited travel for the day and therefore provides return travel from the match, as well as any other journeys required throughout the day.

The offer has been created to help ease traffic congestion around McDiarmid Park when St Johnstone play at home, and to help reduce the number of cars trying to park at the site.

Louise Simpson, Stagecoach’s local operations manager, launched the promotion with the Fair City side’s business development executive Paul Hebbourn prior to Saturday’s 1-1 draw.

Louise said:“So many St Johnstone fans already use our extensive network of bus services to reach McDiarmid Park and by providing this discount travel offer, supporters have an even bigger incentive to leave their cars behind and use public transport to get to the game.

“It’s great to work with St Johnstone Football Club and I wish them every success for the season too!”

Paul said:“We’re delighted to be working with Stagecoach to provide our season ticket holders with half-price bus tickets to our weekend home matches.

“We welcome any sort of partnership which makes it easier and more affordable for supporters to get to games and we thank Stagecoach for their help in providing this exciting initiative.”

‘Match Dayrider’tickets will be available to buy from Stagecoach bus drivers on the day of any weekend home matches throughout the current season.
