MSP ready for coffee break and praises cancer support

-

Shadow Minister for Local Government, Perth’s Alexander Stewart MSP, is hoping the World’s Biggest Coffee Morning campaign can pass its £200m fundraising total.

The Conservative Mid Scotland and Fife MSP met with Kate Seymour, Macmillan’s head of policy, campaigns and influence as well as the charity’s policy officer for Scotland, Kirsty Smith.

Mr Stewart, a former PKC councillor, said: “I know a considerable number of constituents have personal experiences of the problems cancer diagnosis can bring to patients and their families.

“Macmillan has been there to support many of those in need.

“That’s why I will be attending the next Macmillan Coffee Morning in my region and I would like to invite all of my constituents to drop in.

“However, I would also urge all of you to consider holding your own coffee morning.

“It’s an easy and fun way to raise money for Macmillan, and every penny you raise will help people with cancer.”

Last year the coffee morning event raised around £29.5m for Macmillan and this year the total raised by coffee morning since it began in 1991 will pass £200m.
