Perthshire curling sensation Eve Muirhead started her season off by reaching the semi -final at the Grand Slam of Curling (GSOC) tour event in Regina, Canada.

The team of Eve, Anna Sloan, Vicki Adams and Lauren Gray defeated current world champions Team Homan en route to the last four.

But their journey ended against the Swedish rink skipped by Anna Hasselborg. The Scottish quartet were 6-2 down by the sixth end but rallied hard to secure a single in the penultimate end, followed by a two at the last to narrowly lose out 6-5.

Skip Eve said:“After taking a bit of time to reflect, reaching a Grand Slam semi -final on our first outing of the season is no mean feat.

“The competition out here is the best in the world with the highest level of curling there is.

“The couple of losses we did pick up in the group stages were down to an extra end so we really were close with them too.

“Wins against current world champions Rachel Homan and past world champion Alina Patz from Switzerland – and others – has put us as a team in a good place going into Edmonton next week and the remainder of the season.”

The team now head to the HDF Shoot Out where they finished runners-up last year.
