Pitlochry Weightlifting Club’s Rowan Morrogh Bernard has raised the bar even further by winning a medal at the Commonwealth Youth Championships.

Rowan clinched bronze in the 58kg class having completed all six of her lifts with personal bests of 62kg snatch and 82kg clean and jerk for a 144kg total.

The performance in Australia’s Gold Coast was enough to qualify for next year’s British Seniors.

Rowan’s next competition is the European Youths in Kosovo at the end of September, where she will be lifting for Great Britain along with her younger sister Holly.
