Team GB’s Winter Olympic curling teams are back in action as they continue their respective Canadian campaigns.

Perthshire skip Eve Muirhead is targeting success at this weekend’s HDF Insurance Shoot-Out in Edmonton, where they reached the final last year.

She said:“After kicking off the season with a strong start at the grand slam we are looking forward to continuing our processes here in Edmonton.

“The field is tough once again with the top Canadian, Asian and European teams all here.

“With the Olympic Games not far away, every competition for us is an opportunity to build, face challenges and fine tune ready for February.”

Fellow Olympians Team Smith will face a similarly tough field and are keen to put in a solid performance this week at the Shorty Jenkins Classic in Ontario.

Skip Kyle Smith, from Guildtown, said:“We have prepared well over the last few days and look forward to a great tournament in Cornwall.

“The tournament has a great field this year so we know we will face some tough games which is exactly what we need at this stage of the season.

“For us games against high class opponents are the best way for us to prepare for the bigger tournaments later this year and that is why this event hosted at Cornwall Curling Centre fits our schedule so perfectly this year.”
